I'm currently enjoying creating artwork by typing on a vintage typewriter. I use various letters and punctuation marks to create the images and I have two different typewriters, one from the 1960's and one from the 1920's. These both create different looking type and can be used to enhance the shading.
My first image was of St. Cuthbert's Parish Church in Kirkcudbright. This is a distinctive and iconic landmark which made for an image with high contrast values.
My second work was of the belted Galloway warning sign that she can see as you enter Kirkcudbright.
I was looking to create an image that would use the typewriter's red and black ribbon aginst the white of the paper.
I am currently working on an A4 triptych of the troubled Kirkcudbright Bridge.
I will have prints available of my work for the Kirkcudbright Art and Crafts Trail in August. I will also be selling prints online so check back here for more details.
